Easy Spooky Halloween Cookies that you (or your kids) can make for their classmates or for your next Halloween party!
Recipe type: Dessert
Serves: 24
  • ½ cup softened butter
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1 Tbsp vanilla
  • 1⅓ cups all-purpose flour
  • ¾ tsp baking powder
  • ¼ tsp salt
  • Buttercream frosting (3 cups confectioners' sugar, ⅓ cup butter, 1½ tsp vanilla, 2 Tbsp milk)
  • 1½ cups Melted chocolate chips
  • Crushed Oreo cookies
  • Candy Googly eyes
  1. Preheat over to 350 degrees.
  2. In a large bowl, cream together butter, sugar, egg, and vanilla.
  3. Add dry ingredients and combine well.
  4. Drop teaspoon of batter 2 inches apart onto baking sheet. We use a silpat mat on the baking sheets.
  5. Bake for 12 minutes or until edges are golden. Do not over-bake the cookies. Cool on rack before decorating.
  6. To decorate, melt chocolate chips (and a pat of butter) in microwave-safe bowl in the microwave at 30 second intervals, mixing to make smooth. Once chocolate is melted, dip cooled cookie facedown in chocolate. Shake off excess, and dip in crushed Oreos.
  7. Put icing in piping bag (we used a plastic sandwich bag and cut off the tip of one corner) and pipe the icing to look like the bandage of a Mummy. Add two candy Googly eyes.
  8. Repeat with the remaining cookies, and you're done!
