Quick and easy chocolate dessert that is a real crowd pleaser. Chocolate goodness that is ready in 10 minutes!
Recipe type: Dessert
Serves: 4
  • 1 heaping Tbsp cocoa powder (I use Fry's Cocoa)
  • 3 heaping Tbsp flour (all-purpose - I haven't tested any gluten-free flours in this yet)
  • ½ tsp salt
  • 1 c sugar (granulated white sugar)
  • a bit of cold water
  • 2 c boiling water
  • ¼ c butter
  • ½ tsp vanilla
  • * To garnish: sliced strawberries and a dollop of plain natural yogurt, Greek yogurt, or whipped cream.
  1. Mix together your dry ingredients (cocoa, flour, sugar, and salt). Add a little cold water and make a paste.
  2. In a pot, add your chocolate mixture and add 2 cups boiling water. Cook until thickened (about 10 minutes).
  3. Remove from heat when thickened. Add vanilla and butter, and mix until smooth.
  4. Ladle into dessert dishes and refrigerate OR serve warm. We like to eat it warm and garnish it with sliced strawberries and a dollop of natural plain yogurt or Greek yogurt.
The butter mixed in at the end gives the chocolate dessert a glossiness and smoothness. You can eat this as is or add a dollop of whipped cream. We like the tartness of the yogurt though, but if you like the sweetness if whipped cream, add whipped cream.
