Finger lickin' good ribs! No cutlery necessary! Tender, delicious, and great served with potato wedges and a homemade slaw!
Serves: 5
  • 2 lbs pork ribs, parboiled
  • 1 cup unsweetened apple sauce (I use homemade)
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 8 tablespoons lemon juice
  • ½ teaspoon cracked black pepper
  • ½ teaspoon Paprika
  • ½ teaspoon Cayenne pepper
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon oregano
  • ½ teaspoon cinnamon
  • * I recall that my friend's recipe calls for a can of Coke. I don't have Coke in our house unless we're having a party, so I often omit the Coke.
  1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees F.
  2. Cut ribs into segments of 2 or 3 ribs per segment. In a large pot of water, parboil pork ribs.
  3. In a heavy saucepan, add applesauce, lemon juice, brown sugar, lemon juice, black pepper, oregano, garlic powder, paprika, cinnamon. Bring to a boil.
  4. IF you are using a can of Coke, add to saucepan and stir.
  5. Remove ribs from pot and in baking dish, place ribs in bone side up. Ladle sauce over ribs. I used two baking dishes for this recipe.
  6. Cover with tin foil and bake for 40 minutes.
  7. Turn ribs over an baste with remaining sauce. Bake for another 40 minutes, uncovered.
**This recipe contains a lot of sugar (ketchup, applesauce, brown sugar --and in the Coke if you use it). This is why this recipe is reserved for a treat night in our house :)
