Top 5 Reasons to Stay at Fern Resort, Ontario’s All-Inclusive Resort
Parents, imagine spending a few days enjoying time with your family and letting others take care of all the vacation details for you. No thinking about what to cook or no worrying about having to do dishes or clean. You don’t even have to plan activities for your family to do.
A few things are guaranteed – You and your crew will be well fed and you will not hear anyone utter the words, “I’m bored”. With so many well-planned activities, there is something for everyone in the family.
My family has been to Fern Resort a few times, but this was the longest we have stayed. We usually stay for a weekend, but this time we stayed for a few extra days. We really got to experience the Fern experience.
1. All Your Meals Are Prepared For You
I have to say that one thing, I always look forward to when staying at Fern Resort is that I don’t have to worry about what to make for dinner for a few days.
For me, that is the thing I love the most. When we go on family vacations and rent a cottage or a condo, though it is nice to have a kitchen to cook our meals, that still means I have to cook meals and we still have to do dishes and clean up. I figure that since I do 99% of the cooking at home, when on vacation, it would be nice for me to not have to do the cooking, dishes, etc. Eating out at restaurants when on vacation can get expensive for even our little family of three, so I can only imagine the cost of eating out with a larger family. For these reasons, having all three meals included in our stay at Fern is perfect.
Fern Resort is Ontario’s All-Inclusive Resort, breakfast, lunch, and supper are all included in your stay. The menu offers a good selection of dishes that appeal to different tastes.
Best of all, I don’t have to do any dishes!
2. Rest in the Comfort and Privacy of Your Fern Resort Suite
If you need some downtime or want to go in for a rest, the suites are spacious and comfortable. This time, we stayed in one of the penthouse suites in the Main Inn.
When you walk in, there’s a bed, then the bathroom, and then another bed and a TV. This suite had a second room (like a living room) with pull-out couches and a TV, fridge, sink, and a large balcony that overlooks the pool area and Lake Couchiching. The sunset views are spectacular.
3. Keep Every Member of the Family Entertained
There is definitely no shortage of activities to keep every member of the family entertained. There are activities for all ages every day of the week.
My husband enjoyed axe throwing, and Little One and I took a water colour class. Little One has been really into rock climbing the past few years, so she was happy to give the climbing wall a go. Our days were filled with activities. Little One wanted to do everything! Even though there are ample activities to keep everyone in the family busy and entertained, you can be as busy or as relaxed as you want to be. If you feel like just lounging by the pool or reading a book in a hammock, you can.
Another great thing is that Fern has programming for kids, youth, and teens. You can drop the kids off in the morning and there are staff members at Fern who lead activities and you can rest assured that your kids are in great hands. If you want a little down time or maybe a little time with your partner sans enfants, the programs are a really good idea.
Little One got to step out of her comfort zone on this trip. We asked her repeatedly if she wanted to try going on the banana boat or going water skiing, but she kept declining. She made a friend at Fern and her new friend wanted to go on the banana boat. Little One all of a sudden wanted to go. There’s nothing like a little bit of positive peer pressure, I guess! The girls tried the banana boat and LOVED it! They wanted to go again the next day.
4. Good ‘Ol Family Fun
Staying at Fern is a great opportunity to enjoy some quality family time. Because Fern Resort (Ontario’s All-Inclusive Resort) takes care of everything, even evening activities are offered. They have comedy shows, magic shows, performances, and more. We even had a chance to try Silent Disco. Little One and her new friend really enjoyed karaoke. We were surprised that they went up to sing a few times.
Little One was blown away by the world of magic, illusion, and wonder that is Majinx! She has taken a keen interest in magic tricks and illusions now.
5. Create Memories to Last a Lifetime
The biggest take away from this stay was seeing just why families return to Fern Resort year after year. We met some families who have been returning to Fern for decades. One woman said she started going to Fern with her family when she was thirteen, and she is in her thirties now.
I asked her if that was her entire family, and she laughed and said it was her Fern family. They met years ago and arrange to come up every year at the same time. It was so fun to see these families having some friendly competition in the pool, axe throwing, etc. They provided the rest of the guests with endless entertainment. Their laughter was contagious. They were even so kind to include us in their campfire and let the kids join in on some marshmallow roasting!
In essence, Fern = Family.

We also met a lovely woman in her nineties and she said she had been going to Fern for sixty-five years! She told us stories of when she and her family first started staying at Fern.
Here’s a little promo video made by Fern Resort!
The personal stories and hearing why people choose to come back to Fern year after year are a true testament to Fern Resort’s dedication to helping families have a stay that they will remember. It’s mostly about the memories made and stories families can share to last a lifetime. This trip, I really tapped into the mystique of Fern Resort, Ontario’s All-Inclusive Resort.
