I was having a chat with some friends, and the topic of celebrating Valentine’s Day came up. My friend’s husband said that he thought the day was overly commercial and that there shouldn’t be just one day allotted for showing love for your partner.
Though I agree that love should be expressed daily and that it shouldn’t be reserved for one day out of the year, I admit that I am a hopeless romantic.
Now that my husband and I have been married for thirteen years, our Valentine’s Days are a little more low key than they used to be. My husband usually gives me a thoughtful card, chocolate, and flowers. I usually give him a card filled with heartfelt thoughts, make him a special dinner and bake him a cake. Really, it’s the thought that counts. No matter how simple the gift is, it’s the thought that matters the most. Plus, the gifts I treasure most are the gifts of experience. I’m a word girl, so a letter or card would mean more to me than anything else.
This said, I love giving gifts to others. I also love making things look pretty. Hallmark has been a big part of my upbringing. For every celebration, my mom put extra special care in selecting the perfect card.

I have a confession. I’d like to think of myself as someone who is not a pack rat, but rather, sentimental. I hang on to my cards. I have Christmas cards from the 1980s! Yes, I still have cards in memory boxes from when I was a little girl. I’ve kept all of Little One’s “Welcome Baby” and first birthday cards too.

Wrapping It Up!
Another thing about me is that I love wrapping gifts up. I just love a beautifully wrapped gift to give to someone special. Hallmark Canada has a selection of beautiful gift bags of different sizes, with tissue paper to match. They also have little gift boxes, gift bags for wine bottles, etc.

I’m obsessed with cool socks. Hallmark has the cutest socks and these Love You… A Choc -o- Lot socks are adorable.
Are you an Itty Bittys fan? Are you a Disney fan? You’re in luck, because Hallmark Canada has these cute Itty Bittys Mickey and Minnie characters. My daughter collects Itty Bittys, so she’s always on the look out for new Itty Bittys to add to her collection.
I love this rustic wooden sign. Hallmark’s rustic wooden signs are a great way to spruce up a room and add a bit of a cosy, homey feel.
I’ve got a friend who loves her friends and wine equally. This wine glass would be perfect to give her.
If you’ve been reading my blog since its infancy, you’ll know that I won my husband over with my cooking. When we were dating, I used to bake him gourmet cheesecakes. My husband has a sweet tooth and could not resist the cheesecakes! Now that we’ve been married thirteen years, the cheesecakes only come out on special occasions, holidays, and his birthday.
My grandma always told me that the way to a man’s heart is through his stomach. She was right.

Do you know anyone who loves stuffies? I grew up with Snoopy, Charlie Brown, and the Peanuts gang! The holidays were not complete if we didn’t watch Charlie Brown cartoons. This Snoopy plushie is perfect to give to someone in my vintage (or any age, really)!

Caticorn is our favorite. I mean come on a cat / unicorn of course that would be our fave. The colors and how cute it is makes it the best ever. What a great pet that doesn’t need feed or watered lol.
Besides the Caticorn I want so badly, my favorite item is the The Story of Us card keeper!
