When I think Summer break, the first thing that comes to mind is FAMILY CAMPING ADVENTURE!

Growing up, my parents always made sure to take us camping at least once during our Summer break. We’d go to Algonquin Park or Gatineau Park. We’ve even ventured as far as New Brunswick and Virginia for our family camping trips!
Road games were something that I remember with fondness. When you’re stuck in a vehicle for hours, road trip games are imperative.
Now that I have a child of my own, road trip games and camping games are a must! I was thinking of some great games to take with us on our family camping adventure. Here are a few we enjoy:
Color Smash
Take a break from hiking with Color Smash, the fun, fast card game of color coordination and fast reflexes. Color Smash includes 113 colorful slap cards, each one featuring a different color and word combo. Family members take turns laying out their slap cards, until there is a splat with the correct color word on it then SLAP! Be the first player to collect the most cards to win.
We packed Color Smash and Flip ‘n Chips in our bag when we hit the beach! We set up our beach/sport umbrella, set down our beach blanket, had some snacks and drinks, and played Color Smash and Flip ‘n Chips! The kids went for a swim and played in the sand, and when they needed to get out of the sun and under the umbrella, they played a few more rounds of Color Smash!
Flip ‘n Chips
Enjoy a family picnic with Flip’n Chips, the refreshing memory game. Shake up the game then pour out the fun, as family members take turns flipping chips over to match the colors and shapes. The first players to match seven chips wins.
Flip ‘n Chips is one of my new favourite games. I had a lot of fun playing this with my nieces, nephew, and Little One. We’re all a bit competitive, so being the first to match seven chips was what we were all aiming for! Another thing that is great about Flip ‘n Chips and Color Smash is that both games come in convenient and compact containers. It makes packing them into a beach bag or backpack super easy and they don’t take up much space at all! You can bring them anywhere and play them anywhere!
Zoom Ball Hydro
Cool off and have some watery fun with Zoom Ball Hydro, zip it to rip it. Parents and children each hold onto one of the handles as the Zoom Ball zooms back and forth. Think quick, you never know when the water balloons inside the Zoom Ball will pop, soaking you with water.
I have to say that Little One and her cousins and friends really enjoyed playing Zoom Ball Hydro! There was a lot of laughter, as the kids (and adults) never knew if the water balloons were going to explode when it reached them! It was SO funny! The kids’ laughter was contagious.
Honestly, this is what Summer is all about. All the memories made by spending quality time together, playing games, and laughing together are all things that we as a family really value.
