Manitoulin Island – A place where many island treasures can be found.
One of the things I love about Manitoulin Island is that it is home to many talented artists and craftspeople. It’s no surprise, since it is easy to find inspiration on this beautiful island.
Each summer, visitors and locals go on the Island-wide Art Tour and stop in and admire the artwork of local artists. You can find artwork in a variety of mediums. Textile arts, pottery, painting, photography…The Island has it all.
Farmers’ Markets, artist studios, and local galleries are also good places to find island treasures. Perhaps you may find a special piece of work that is special to you. I find artwork makes good souvenirs, as they invoke memories. I actually have a love of pottery, so whenever I travel, I usually return with a few pieces of pottery and a much heavier suitcase than when I left home with.
I try my best to keep up to date with local events and businesses so I can share them with my readers. I have a Facebook Group for residents of Manitoulin to post any of their upcoming events, businesses, and general information. Those traveling to Manitoulin can visit the group for information about where to dine, where to stay, where to visit, etc.
Since I am passionate about promoting all things Manitoulin and all new businesses, I’m really excited to share some of Island Treasures’ work.
What I love about Island Treasures is the variety of items created and they reflect Island Treasures’ love of nature, camping, and the outdoors. They have everything from wooden coasters to stamped necklaces, to concrete art that is functional (like a concrete rhubarb leaf imprint that serves as a bird bath to a geometric painted concrete planter).
