Quality time – Does your family get enough of it?
Disclaimer – I have received the products mentioned to facilitate this post. All thoughts and opinions in this post are my own.
Lately, I’ve noticed that Little One would come over to me for a snuggle and say, “Mom, can we have quality time tonight?” It makes me stop whatever I’m in the midst of, because the fact that my daughter is asking for quality time signals to me that it is something that we are lacking.
Sometimes when Little One requests family time, we read a book together or we watch a movie together as a family. I actually feel like we need to disconnect from all our devices in order to connect. Though much of my work is done online, I feel like we need some time offline to really enjoy spending some quality time with loved ones.
To be honest, I really welcome time spent offline. Some days I just need a break from it.
Quality Time
Kroeger has some great items to encourage quality time with the family. To be hoenst, it wasn’t that difficult to get me away from my mobile device. Little One and I have spent countless hours making jewelry with her Linkt Jewelry kits. She also got some quality time with her dad when they worked on the Rubik’s Cube Build It, Solve It together.
One of our favourite ways to have quality time is to have a few rounds of good ‘ol family fun with games night. We have a collection of family favourites. Little One is at an age now where she has a keen interest in board games.
CADOO
This is Little One’s excited face. She was so excited to have some quality time with Grandma, Auntie Sel, and Mommy. She got us to play Cadoo with her and it was so much fun. None of us are competitve at all. Ha! Note the sarcasm. We’re all super competitive, but it was all in good fun. There were LOTS of laughs!
The Cranium Cadoo game gets kids thinking, creating and giggling as they play. Ages 7 to adult.
How the game is played: You can play “combo” or go “solo” to compete in challenges from sculpting a clay object, solving a picture puzzle, and acting out a clue, sketching a target word or answering a trivia question. All of which are fun! We were all laughing throughout the entire game.
Team play: players guess what you are doing. If a player shouts it out, you share the same spot on the board. Be the first to get four tokens in a row and win! but you can only win on a solo card
Cadoo comes with a game board, two decks of challenge cards, 1 custom die, sketch pad, 40 plastic scoring tokens, special red secret decoder mask, Cranium Modeling clay in zip bag, sand timer.
MOUTHGUARD CHALLENGE
Before we played the actual game, Little One wanted to get a feel of what the mouthguards felt like when using them. She is too funny!
Mouthguard Challenge is guaranteed to make everyone laugh. The game comes with 5 mouthguards, 51 tasks, and revenge cards. Anyone can play the game or just sit back and watch the fun. It’s sometimes funnier just watching people play the game! The tasks not only contain words or phrases, but also funny challenges! 2 – 5 players, 16+ years and up. Little One and her friends are a bit young for this game (they are 9 and 10 years old), but they had a blast playing this game, This is perfect for family games night or for bringing to a get together or party with friends.
CRIBBAGE
I’ve always wanted to learn how to play cribbage, because when I first moved up to “the island”, every Thursday night was “crib night” at the Triangle Club. Each week, people in the community would gather and play somone serious cribbage.
When I first moved here, Old John (one of the first people I met on the island) tried to teach me how to play cribbage. He told me that when I learned how to play, I could join him at the hall and play cribbage with everyone. I was a bit intimidated, since everyone who plays cribbage here takes it seriously. I know it’s all in good fun, but I felt bad being the one who held everyone back because I didn’t know how to play and they needed to explain the rules over and over.

This 4-Lane cribbage with solid wood construction really impressed my husband. I had only seen smaller versions made of cheaper wood before. This one is really nicely put together. It comes with a compartment underneath with a slide opening and closing that contains 16 Metal pegs and 1 deck of playing cards store inside the board. Instructions are included and the game is for 2-4 players, ages 6+.
Hanging out with the family
Little One has named Friday nights “Family Night” and is all about having our family put away our devices in exchange for some quality time playing games together. We had fun with all three of the games we received, but the one Little One enjoys the most is Cadoo.

I’m thankful that Little One keeps asking for quality time, and I’m happy to disconnect from the online world in order for my family to connect. As the years fly by, and Little One gets older, I realize how life is made up of moments. These are moments I don’t want to forget. Quality time is so important, and sometimes families need to disconnect to connect.
I love spending time with my granddaughters and we love playing games. We love Uno, go fish, kerplunk, my 3 year old likes the matching game,
I would have guessed it was an airplane too! We love playing board games together. Who Am I? is my kids current favourite. 🙂
Oh, I like the looks of the Cadoo game! Also love those photos girls.
