For mathematicians, Pi Day means 3.14159 and…for foodies, it means pies, pies, pies!

Funny story: When my husband and I were engaged, all the ladies and farmers’ wives in our township asked me how my pie crust and homemade bread were. Apparently, those are deal breakers if a farmer’s wife cannot bake a good pie or homemade loaf of bread!
Pi Day
It’s almost March 14! That’s 3/14! You know what that means, right? Pi Day is coming up, and I thought I’d be “punny” and round up some perfect pies to celebrate the day! Get it? See what I did there? Pi/Pie? It really doesn’t sound funny when I explain it. Anyway, in honour of the ratio of the circumference of a circle to its diameter, I’m sharing some perfect pies to celebrate Pi Day with. Get ready to feast your eyes on some perfect pies from some of our favourite Canadian bloggers.
Perfect Pies to Celebrate Pie Day with!
My husband grew up with dessert at each meal. That was not the norm in my household growing up. John’s mom bakes pies of all kinds, but a family favourite in their house is Chocolate Chess Pie.
I’ve taken to making Mini Chocolate Chess Pies just so we can have a bit of moderation in our house. Like I said, my husband loves his pie!
Another family favourite that Hubby grew up with — Crocodile Pie! To this day, I have no idea why it is called that.
Mommy Moment’s Easy Strawberry Shortcake with Pie Crust makes me dream of Summer!
When I was telling my husband about the No-Bake Millionaire Pie on Merry About Town’s blog, he said he wanted to try it! In other words, he meant that I should make it for him. I have to confess (and please do not hate me!), but I am not a fan of pie! I do love key lime pie and lemon meringue pie though. This said, my husband loves ALL pies. This one is high on his list of must-try recipes.
Who doesn’t love a traditional apple pie? Older Mommy Still Yummy has a great How to Make a Traditional Apple Pie post on her blog!
My husband says that Creative Cynchronicity’s Apple Cream Pie sounds heavenly.
Creative Cynchronicity also shares her Maple and Cheddar Apple Pie recipe.
When Farmer John talks about apple pie, you know he gets all nostalgic. There’s just something about a classic apple pie with a wonderful, flaky crust that totally does him in. He gets transported to a different time and place when he eats his apple pie. This is exactly what makes me think of Redawna and her Classic Apple Pie!
I have to tell you that blueberry pie happens to be my husband’s favourite pie. Well, it’s a toss up between blueberry, cherry, raspberry, apple, strawberry rhubarb…
Oh, who am I kidding? He just loves pie!
Older Mommy Still Yummy shares her Blueberry Pie recipe.
I confessed earlier that I am not a fan of pies, but I do love a good key lime pie and lemon meringue pie. Older Mommy Still Yummy has a great Lemon Meringue Pie recipe here. Little One’s favourite pie just happens to be Lemon Meringue.
We couldn’t possibly do a pie round up without my favourite pie! Key Lime Pie! The lovely Randa from The Bewitchin’ Kitchen shares The Best Key Lime Pie Ever recipe.
How about this for a cool little twist? Randa’s got a Key Lime Pie Ice Cream (No Churn) Recipe.
I know I often tell people that I do not like super sweet sweets. I have to say that Key Lime Pie and Cadbury Mini Eggs are my Kryptonite. I will never say no to Key Lime Pie, especially if my friend Lisabeth from The Ultimate Chocolate Blog makes it. Everything Lisabeth makes is sumptuous, decadent, perfect, and heavenly!
Check out Lisabeth’s Key Lime Pie with White Chocolate Whip and Chocolate Shavings!
If you love peaches and cream, Creative Cynchronicity has a delightful Peaches and Cream Pie recipe on her blog.
