I’ve got one of those kids who is forever creating and concocting things. This is why I’m always on the lookout for gifts for creative kids.
Let me first say that I’m totally not trying to be Scrooge or The Grinch when I say this, but I cannot stand STUFF. I try to keep all toys with a million little parts out of our home. They just end up getting lost or broken (or stepped on)! Nothing drives me crazier than random toys and parts of toys found around the house. Sadly, Little One LOVES that kind of stuff. What I am okay with is educational toys. I prefer Little One to have toys and games that are educational, creative, and fun…and not just dust collectors.
I welcome toys and games that are science or craft-based.
Gifts for Creative Kids
I’ve come up with some gifts for creative kids that I absolutely love. Number one on the list is:
Linkt Jewelry Maker
My daughter loves crafts and creating things. She also happens to love making jewelry. The Linkt Jewelry Maker is the perfect gift for any kid who loves making jewelry.
Little One and her friend had a sleep over and I thought the girls were in bed. They stayed up a bit later than normal bedtime because they were making dozens of pairs of earrings! They could not stop creating! It was so cool to see their creative juices pumping and seeing all their finished products.
Little One has given a few of her creations to friends, and parents have since been asking me where they can purchase the awesome Linkt Jewelry Maker kits!
Linkt Jewelry Maker is a modern introduction to the historical art of chainmaille. Linkt takes the age-old design used by knights and kings as protection and adornment, and re-invents it as fashionable jewelry. Make bracelets, earrings, and necklaces by linking hundreds of colourful rings! The possibilities are endless! All kids need: Their imagination and creativity, and the kits! Kits include everything they need to make unique jewelry!
MSRP: $24.99 – $26.99
Little One even made a pair of earrings especially for school picture day.
Rubik’s Cube: Build it, Solve it
Growing up, one of my favourite toys was my Rubik’s Cube. It is such a classic, well-loved toy. Okay, it’s a mind-bender and I have yet to solve it completely on my own…and I am in my 40s! That is over thirty years of trying to solve the puzzle on my own! Ha!
Well, Little One is interested in solving things, and she was interested in the Rubik’s Cube. We took it one step further and had her BUILD her Rubik’s Cube and then solve it. The kit is really cool. Kids can build their own Rubik’s Cube by following the well laid out instructions that come with all the parts needed to build the cube. They can then try to solve it time and time again once their Rubik’s Cube is built.
Little One required the help of her Dad. It was a great activity for them to do together.
MSRP: 24.99
Tetris Dual
Growing up, I was part of a generation where Tetris was pretty much every kid’s favourite game to play. Adults even loved that game.
Tetris Dual takes the classic game to a whole other level by battling head to toe against your friends. Create the Tetrimino shapes displayed on the LCD screen by dropping your Tetris pieces into the Matrix. Score the most points by completing a full row and the player with the highest score wins!
MSRP: $29.99
Cadoo
If your family loves playing fun board games like our family does, your kids will love Cadoo! With the variety of hilarious activities, Cadoo gets kids thinking, creating, and laughing like crazy! Cadoo has something for everyone. Act, solve puzzles, sketch, sculpt, solve secret codes! So fun!
MSRP: $39.99
Little One loves creating and crafting, and she is also drawn to games and toys that test her ability to solve puzzles. All of the toys/games included in this post are ones that Little One finds entertaining. I have to say that though she thoroughly enjoyed all of the above, her favourite was the Linkt Jewelry Kit! She spend hours creating several pairs of earrings and told me that she wants to get this for all her girl cousins and as gifts for her friends’ birthdays.

I have never seen the Tetris game OR the jewellery. These are excellent gifts for creative kids. Mine would just love them.
My daughter isn’t very creative but I do buy for a few girls that are.. honestly never really thought of jewellery kits! They are old enough now, I’ll have to double check w/the parents but what an excellent suggestion! Still geared towards them, engaging, creative and not a plushie or coin purse or something they’ll likely never use! Thanks for the fabulous suggestions!
Those all look great. Thanks for sharing this. Gives me a few ideas for Christmas gifts.
