It’s hard to believe that we are nearing the last days of summer! I’m usually a “glass is half full” kind of person, but let’s be honest. August is just flying by at warp speed and soon the kids will be back in school. What better way to cling onto savour the last days of summer than spend as much time out on the lake with our pets?
When our precious canine baby, Chance was still alive, he used to love going to the lake for a swim. He loved it when we threw a stick into the water for him to retrieve.
I have to say that I really miss Chance. He was my baby before Little One was born!
Chance really loved to swim, so whenever we’re at the lake or the beach, I think of how much he used to love spending in the water.
Cupcake, on the other hand, isn’t quite so sure how she likes the water yet. You see, Cupcake only has three legs, so whenever she tries to swim, she ends up going in circles. Poor girl.
She does like to wade in the water with Little One, but isn’t great at retrieving sticks in the water yet. Cupcake is very inquisitive and likes to sniff around her surroundings more than go for a swim. We bring some of her favourite treats and keep them in our pockets, because sometimes she has selective hearing and it takes her some time to come when called. We usually have some Purina Beggin’ Strips with us, and when we give her a piece of one, she is the best listener in the world.
Usually, when we return from a few hours at the lake, Cupcake is wiped out. She’s also hungry when she gets home! A bowl of Purina Beneful and she is a very content girlie!
Sometimes she’ll just want to lay on her dog bed and chew on a Dentalife chew. Cupcake is easy to please. Lots of time playing together at the lake, maybe a little swim, a family hike, her favourite treats, some snuggles, and a whole lot of loving — That is how we’re savouring the last days of summer! Life is better at the lake! #LetsLiveBig and really enjoy all those special moments shared with our pets.

I’m so sad summer has come to a close!! I enjoy the kids being home
We love taking our two dogs to the lake. They go on hikes with us and we take them to the dog park. Summer is definitely more enjoyable when spent with our doggy babies!
