Through our many travels, we have learned that as Canadians, we pride ourselves in our diverse culture, rich history, and all things Canadian. We feel a sense of connection in shared experiences and we also embrace things that are uniquely Canadian.
How many of you have been backpacking overseas and have come across others with the Canadian flag stitched onto their backpacks? There is a sense of familiarity and a feeling that is just hard to explain. Being Canadian also translates into how we think about all things Canadian, like how our food is grown and where our food comes from.
Did you know that three out of four Canadians who eat beef believe that fresh tastes better? We recently learned that from a recent survey commissioned by Wendy’s® Canada. Canadians value food that is uniquely Canadian.
The study also revealed that the passion for ‘local’ continues to grow with nine out of 10 Canadians who eat beef indicating they think it’s important to purchase local.
We know consumers value quality and the importance of supporting locally sourced products. We have made sure that one hundred per cent of Wendy’s® beef is raised in Canada and served in every hamburger across the country,” says Lisa Deletroz, Marketing Director Wendy’s® Canada. “Wendy’s takes great pride is serving local, fresh never frozen, great tasting beef.”
Wendy’s® was founded on the idea of quality, and has always maintained that fresh tastes better. While consumer expectations continue to evolve, Wendy’s® is committed to delivering the taste and quality Canadians have come to expect: 100% Fresh Canadian Beef.

It’s not hard to see why Canadians want fresh, local beef for their burgers!
I was a bit surprised to discover that the majority of Ontarians (92%) eat beef, but not surprised that they value local beef highly. The survey showed that 55% of Ontario beef eaters indicate that it’s very important to purchase Canadian beef. 3 out of 4 Canadian beef eaters believe that fresh Canadian beef tastes better than frozen beef, while one in five are undecided.
Burger lovers, are you excited that Wendy’s burgers are made with fresh and Canadian beef? Wendy’s Canada has been serving fresh, never frozen hamburgers for over 40 years!
