Isn’t it incredible how certain fragrances and scents can evoke memories or transport us to another time in our lives? The fresh scent of lavender reminds me of my grandparents.
I was first introduced to the calming, fresh scent of lavender by my maternal grandmother and grandfather. My grandmother had dried lavender in sachets that would make her home smell wonderful.
To this day, whenever I smell lavender, I think of my grandparents’ home. I am transported back to when I was a kid and being in their company. Summer days, with the windows open, breeze blowing — All reminders of a time when my grandparents were still alive and very active in my life.
It’s really funny how all of these feelings resurfaced when I was cleaning my floors the other day. With the holidays approaching, I wanted to give the house a good cleaning.
I know it may sound crazy, but I tried Pine-Sol Multi-Surface Cleaner (Lavender), and a wave of emotions came over me. First, the house smelled great – like the lavender sachets at my grandparents’ old home. Then the fact that I was using Pine-Sol reminded me again of my grandparents. That’s what they used to clean their house. They used the original Pine-Sol, but now there are a variety of different scents available (original, lavender, mandarin, lemon, and sparkling wave).
I have to say that usually, I’m very sensitive to fragrances, but the house smelled great! The bathroom and kitchen had that fresh like lavender scent. When my eight year old came home from school, she said the house smelled really good. She doesn’t normally make comments like that.
With the cats, the dog, and my farmer husband in and out of the house and tracking dirt all over my floors, I’m glad to have a multi-purpose cleaner that cuts through grease, stains, and grime, and smells like my grandparents’ home.
What’s up colleagues, its enormous post on the topic of cultureand
fully explained, keep it up all the time.
We use the same PineSol scent. I never was a fan of the smell of PineSol but since adding scents to it, I don’t mind it as much.
Lavender is very soothing especially for relaxing before sleep. I rub a bit of essential oils of lavender on the bottoms of my feet and my pillow case. I love your dog….she reminds me of my husband’s dog Bailey. Blessings

What a thoughtful post. It is remarkable how smells can trigger memories and emotions. It’s clear you were very close with your grandparents.
By the way, I had no idea PineSol came in lavender scent. I am going to look for this next time i am at the store!
