It’s that time of the year already! I find it so hard to believe that school is starting next week! Preparing for back to school with TELUS could not be easier! Finding hot tech items for back to school is easy with TELUS too!
Tech for Teens
Back in the early 2000s (when my youngest brother was a tween), it seemed that more and more kids where we lived were getting cell phones. I had just returned from working in Japan for two years, and in Japan, cell phones were common for all ages. In Canada, that was not the case.
I didn’t see having a cell phone a necessity for children or teens back then, but now that I’m a parent, my views on many things have changed a bit.
My parents got my youngest brother a cell phone when he was a tween because my Mom wanted him to have it on him in case of emergency. He could call her if he needed her to pick him up somewhere or she could call and find out where he was and what he was doing. It’s so interesting to see how times have changed since I was a tween and from when my brother was a tween.
My daughter is still too young to have her own cell phone, but I can see how her having a cell phone when she is a teen would give me better of peace of mind. Like my Mom, I’d feel more at ease knowing that my daughter could reach me when she needed to, especially since we live in the rural North and there is no public transit. She could call or text me to pick her up or drive her and her friends home from their activities.
