When I was little, I remember pouring over our LEGO collection with my brother and cousins, spending hours creating buildings and villages, and other creations. The sky was the limit.
Fast forward *gasp* thirty-something years, and now my own little one is playing with LEGO!
LEGO inspires creativity
It’s fun to watch her come up with her own creations and it’s also exciting to see the look on her face when she completes building a themed set. I love the look on her face when she follows the instructions. She is such a serious kid when she focuses on a task. She does have a difficult time focusing and staying on task, so seeing her build with blocks and follow the instructions is incredible.
Back in the day, when I was a kid, this childhood favourite was a bit different. Oh, the same brilliant interlocking pieces to inspire creativity and engineering existed, but now there are so many different themed sets to choose from!

Over the past few weeks, with Hubby recovering from his accident and surgery, he and Little One have been keeping busy building, building, and doing more building…and watching LEGO shows on Netflix! I suppose it is a blessing in disguise that he had his accident. He is now able to spend LOTS of family time with us since he is not mobile yet. Him not being mobile has given us a chance to do things together like build LEGO masterpieces together and watch fun family titles on Netflix.
Admittedly, Little One has been getting a bit more screen time than she is accustomed to. With my workload being tenfold what it was prior to Hubby’s accident, I’m finding it hard to get things done. Whether it be work deadlines that need to be met, client meetings, or work on the farm — everything is slower to get done when Little One is vying for my attention. These days, even the animals look at me questioningly as though they want to ask me, “Hey, lady! Why were you two hours late in feeding us?!” *sigh*
Little One currently enjoys watching this…
Since we’ve got a theme going, here’s some more Netflix titles your kids may enjoy!
Are your kids big LEGO fans too?

I had no idea there was lego shows on Netflix. I will have to check them out. my girls are still to young for the smaller lego pieces (they have the big ones right now) but I cant wait to see how creative they get and the things they build with them when the time comes…not so much the stepping on them part…hoping to many incidences with that lol
we are all big Lego fans!
I kept my children Lego blocks and I took them out a couple months ago for my 3 year old granddaughter to play with. She just love them!
I never had Lego’s as a kid but my kids now love them. I do find it disappointing that they are doing the pink/purple marketing for those sets they deem are more for girls.
Jan, when I was a kid, we just had the LEGO with primary colours and my brothers and I played with them. I do admit that I really like the Star Wars LEGO that is out now!
I was a HUGE Lego fan as a kid. Hoping my kids love playing with Lego one day, too. We’re still in the “too young for Lego” phase aside from those BIGGER block sets (can’t be swallowed by the little one-lol). They do both love building with those, though.
Jordana, I remember waiting a long time to let Little One play with LEGO. Even when she was old enough to not put things in her mouth (I worried so much about her swallowing pieces because she was that kid who put everything in her mouth), I waited until she was older. I waited until she was also old enough to put away her LEGO! There’s nothing worse than stepping on pieces in your bare feet! LOL *sigh* She’s 7 and that still happens. 🙂
She’s loving the LEGO shows on Netflix!!
