A few weeks ago, I had the unfortunate experience of not searching UrbanDictionary.Com before using a particular hashtag. *Ahem* If any of you are not familiar with the #NetflixAndChill hashtag, it doesn’t mean watching Netflix and chilling out with your family or by yourself!
I had posted on my Facebook about maybe this Valentine’s Day just staying in and watching Netflix with my husband. You know, because staying in is the new “Date Night”. To be honest, we don’t even have date nights anymore. The last time we ventured out together sans child was for a funeral. Though there was a luncheon afterwards, it hardly qualifies as a date. Right?
We do get to watch the odd show on Netflix together, but days are long and we work at night too. Hubby often gets in from the barn after dark and then it’s time for bed. The life of a farming family is quite luxurious, yes? 🙂
I’m often driving Little One all over the Island for her activities (Brownies, choir, piano lessons, jazz/ballet, and more), so if Hubby and I just happen to be at home in the evenings at the same time, we try to watch an episode of our latest Netflix favourite. Currently, we’ve been watching Lie to Me together.
Back to my story about Valentine’s Day.
My mom (bless her heart – I love her so much) commented on my “Staying in is the new date night” post and the conversation got funnier and funnier as it progressed.
My friends and cousins immediately made Netflix and Chill jokes, alluding to my post a few weeks ago. Then it happened…
My mom asked if she and my dad could Netflix and Chill with us!
It was too funny. I spat out my tea and was laughing so hard that I was in tears.
Netflix #showmance

On a side note, it may sound a bit odd, but I honestly believe Netflix has been instrumental in helping Hubby and me bond. Since we really do not have a lot of time together, bonding over Netflix shows, documentaries and movies has been great for us! We enjoy and value that time together.
