Netflixing: /netfliks-ing/v
- The act of watching an entire season of a show in one sitting.
- A totally valid excuse for avoiding social obligations.
The term Netflixing has been used in this household quite often these days. Little One would sometimes ask, “Mom, it’s Friday! Family movie night! What are we Netflixing?”
I have recently discovered that there are a few hashtags out there that I am clueless about. For example, not too long ago, I used the hashtag #NetflixAndChill because I actually wanted to watch Netflix and chill with my family! Ooooh, boy! Was I surprised when Little One’s babysitter, my nieces, my cousin, and several followers messaged me and said, “Ummm…You do know what that means, right?!”
Clueless.
I had absolutely no clue something so fun and innocent could turn out to be something completely opposite of what one may have wanted to convey! Do not check out that hashtag. I beg of you.
Another year of Netflixing!
I’m entering year three as a member of the Netflix Canada #StreamTeam. It’s been a really fun two years! My family has been enjoying Netflixing when we’ve got a bit of time to unwind. It’s quite evident that we each have our own preferences as to what we watch.
What Little One is Netflixing
Little One is seven years old and is a fan of documentaries, cooking shows, animated films, educational TV shows, and all things fairy and mermaid-related.
She is currently streaming:
Little One recommends:
- Strange Magic
- Home
- Martha Speaks
- Chef’s Table (documentary, not in the kids’ titles, but she enjoyed watching it with me)
- Girl Eat World (again, in the documentary titles and Little One enjoyed watching the episodes)
I know Girl Eat World is a food series and not really a kids’ show, but my seven year old was obsessed with this series!
What Hubby is Netflixing
Pretty quickly into our early married life, it became quite apparent that Hubby’s taste in TV shows and movies differ considerably from mine. While we were dating, we didn’t go to the movies because 1) farming takes up much of our time and 2) we don’t have a movie theatre on the island. We didn’t watch much TV together because our dates were more centered around going for walks on the beach, going for drives around the island, and going hiking. It wasn’t until we were married and living together that I became aware of his viewing habits.
Oh, it’s nothing scandalous! Hubby enjoys watching the news, sports, history, documentaries, parliamentary debates, and some shows and movies that are educational. He does enjoy a good dose of comedy and action films too.

What I’m Netflixing
I don’t have lots of spare time, so in the evening before bed, I like to have a tea and watch an episode or two of one of my favourite shows. My taste in Netflix titles ranges from history, documentary, comedy, romantic comedies, drama, action, sci-fi, science and nature-based shows and anything food/cooking-related.
I’m currently streaming:

I am currently looking for more titles to view, but here are some of my favourites I Netflixed last year.
- Call the Midwife
- Downton Abbey
- The Walking Dead
- Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt
- Wentworth
- Orange is the New Black
My question to you is, what are you Netflixing?
