Ever since I was a young child, I felt akin to pet people everywhere. I remember as a kid, each Christmas I would ask Santa Claus for a white kitten.
Each year, Santa Claus would not give me a white kitten for Christmas and I soon lost my belief in the jolly old man in the red suit.
The reason Santa never brought me a kitten was because of the fact that I had very bad allergies to dust, mold, pollen, and…yes, animal dander.
Santa didn’t want me to get sick.
I always knew even way back then that despite my allergies, I belonged with all the pet people in the world. I have always loved animals…even if living with them caused me to have itchy eyes, a runny nose, respiratory issues and more. I told myself I would become immune to the dander in time.
When I was in my mid-twenties, I got a puppy. Chance is my first baby. He’s been with me since 2002 and has seen me through good times and bad times. He is my special boy (hence my Twitter handle, @chancesmommy).

We’ve since added to our family. We have Chance, Cupcake, Georgie, Marshmallow, Spike, and soon we will be welcoming Princess Peach into our home.
I guess it’s safe to say that we are pet people!
#PetPeople would do anything for their pets. Whether it’s an inability to watch pet movies and commercials without shedding a tear, or having as many photos on your desk of your pet as you do your children, or simply putting the best interest of your pet ahead of your own, Pet People are a breed all their own.
A little info I just learned is that at Purina, they are a culture of #PetPeople. Their pets go to work with them, and they inspire them to do great work. At Purina, they don’t only make and sell Purina products; they feed them to our own pets.
They see every day the quality and care that goes into the products, and that gives them confidence as Pet People just like us that they are doing the best they can for their pets, and the pets of all of the other Pet People who put their trust in Purina.
Have you seen the Purina Pet People videos yet? Abby looks just like our little Cupcake!
Something exciting for Pet People
To share and spread their love of pets, Purina has launched the Purina Pet People campaign. The campaign includes a video showcasing Purina employees and their pets, as well as a Twitter and Instagram contest, where Canadians are asked to share what it means to them to be #PetPeople.
Are you a #PetPerson? Share your photo for a chance to WIN!
By sharing photos on Instagram and Twitter of your pet or you and your pets, tagging @purinacanada and #PetPeople, and telling us what it means to be #PetPeople, pet people like you can enter for a chance to have a photo included in limited edition coffee table photo book being produced by Purina. All winners will receive a copy of the book. How exciting is that?
Contest ends December 22nd, 2015. For complete information and details regarding the rules, visit Purina® Pet People Contest Official Rules.
We’re sharing some of our #PetPeople pics on Twitter and Instagram! Can’t get enough of our fur babies! They just make our lives so much fuller. I love how pets teach Little One about companionship, caring, responsibility, and love.
Disclosure – This is a sponsored post. Though I am affiliated with Purina through the #PetPeople campaign, all thoughts and opinions on this blog are honest and my own.
