Each year, I try to give loved ones gifts either handmade by me or gifts that are made locally on Manitoulin Island. Sometimes though, people on my list have special requests or needs for items I cannot find on the Island.
This year, I’ve compiled a 2015 Holiday Gift Guide that is jam packed with great items for everyone on your list.
2015 Holiday Gift Guide
Skechers has a variety of footwear for the stylish and fashion-forward lady on your list.
Anchored Jewelry has a variety of hand-crafted statement pieces. From necklaces and earrings to rings, Anchored has unique jewelry handmade on Manitoulin.
Tim Hortons gift cards are always a go-to for us. It’s hockey season, so lots of parents are on the road for out of town games. Tim Hortons gift cards are also great for teachers’ gifts and bus drivers’ gifts.
Hallmark Canada‘s Star Wars Salt & Pepper Shakers make a great stocking stuffer for the Start Wars fan and foodie on your list!
Christmas stockings handmade by Jackie’s Art Quilts are a lovely way of keeping the Christmas stocking tradition alive. Who doesn’t love a few little items in a Christmas stocking to unwrap? I’ve always loved having family Christmas stockings hung above the fireplace or from the banister (we don’t have a fireplace in our house).
Preppy Littles has hand-crafted clip-on bow ties and headbands for your Preppy Little Ones! Surely a cute way to complete your little ones’ holiday outfits! Get picture perfect for all the holiday photos this season! Also find suspenders and Bibdanas (bibs/bandanas) at Preppy Littles! www.preppylittles.com
Red Planet Group has toys for your creative little thinkers! My Little One just turned seven and is still into toys — especially of the animal kind! Though she has real pets (cats, dogs, bunnies and chickens), she really enjoys playing with Little Live Pets as well. They’re fun little pets she doesn’t have to clean up after!
Other favourites include Beados and BLO Pens! Our little girl can spend hours (yes, HOURS!) doing arts and crafts! Funny how she has trouble concentrating on doing other tasks like homework or chores, but always seems to have ample concentration and patience for the things she loves to do…like arts and crafts! Both Beados and BLO Pens are great for letting kids express their creativity and they are also great for manual dexterity and other things our Little One can use help with.
SwimZip is one of my favourite gifts to give! Perfect if you’re going on a family vacation somewhere sunny and warm this season! Whenever Little One is out and about when we’re somewhere hot and sunny for vacation or when she’s at the beach or at the lake, she’s always in her SwimZip. Very stylish and comfortable, SwimZip is the perfect way to keep your kids safe from the sun’s harmful UV rays.
I’m one of those moms who likes giving practical gifts. One of my absolute favourite items for kids and adults alike is Funkins reusable cloth napkins. I’m a fan of the waste-free lunch and try to ensure that Little One’s lunches are as waste-free as possible. This means including Funkins as one of our litterless lunch techniques. Funkins has an array of colourful, fun napkins to choose from. There are holiday ones, perfect for celebrating this season and there are some fun everyday designs as well.
Granted, perhaps most kids may not have new bedding high on their wishlist priorities, but Little One has been eyeing several Zipit Bedding sets online recently. She already has two sets, but she likes to mix and match. Zipit Bedding is reversable and you can mix and match with other Zipit Bedding sets. The best thing is that making the bed couldn’t be easier. All little one has to do is zip it! That’s one way to keep her room tidier! Now if she can find a way to magically make her toys, clothes and books on the floor disappear just as easily!
Hallmark has some special items to celebrate the season with.
SoapSox is 2-in-1 fun for little ones at play time and bath time. They’re cuddly companions you can take in the tub. Little One just turned seven a few weeks ago, and she still enjoys playing in the tub. She has Ava the Dolphin and has told me she thinks SoapSox would be great to give to her cousins and friends as stocking stuffers.
Lampe Berger – Little One’s Lola (Grandma) has a thing for fragrances and whenever you walk into her house, it smells oh-so-welcoming. Lampe Berger has lovely scents, and we think that Vanilla Gourmet and Orange Cinnamon are perfect for the Holiday Season. They’re both warm, festive fragrances! The home fragrances and beautiful glass pieces make lovely gifts for anyone on your list!
Anchored Jewelry‘s hand stamped Christmas ornaments are a beautiful keepsake. Each piece is hand stamped and Anchored and personalize your ornament to make it even more special. Wouldn’t Grandma and Grandpa love an ornament with all their grandchildren’s names on it?
As much as I always say to never get a woman a appliance, vacuum or anything to clean the house with for a Christmas gift, what if Grandma really wants a floor steamer or carpet cleaner for Christmas? Better yet, what if Grandma really wants a Hoover FloorMate® SteamScrub™ 2-IN-1?
The dual-purpose unit revitalizes both hardwood, carpeted, and other household surfaces to remove even the most stubborn set-in stains with SteamStream™ Technology. The other bonus is that it’s super lightweight!
How about giving a gift that keeps on giving?
Free the Children – I love the idea of giving a gift that makes a real impact and can change the lives of others. Each donation will transform a life, providing basic resources such as clean water, school supplies and health care.
For $25, a bundle of baby chicks which grow and lay eggs can provide a sustainable income for a mother and her children.
Primary education for one child for just $50.
$250 can provide clean water for a family.
These are just a few gift ideas that we thought we’d share. What are some items your loved ones have on their wish lists? Do you have any favourites from our 2015 Holiday Gift Guide?
