It’s been a wild Summer with temperatures ranging from as hot as above 30 degrees to as low as the teens! Ice cream is a favourite in the Summer, whether it’s 32 degrees or 17 degrees! With all the ice cream consumption in this house, I’ve been serving up frozen treat alternatives that are much friendlier on the waistline!
One of our new favourites is a two-ingredient frozen treat made in our Yonanas classic dessert maker.
Yonanas is a small kitchen gadget that churns JUST frozen fruit into creamy, soft serve “ice cream.” There is NO added sugar, NO saturated fat, NO cholesterol, NO added with ALL of the flavor. This is perfect for ice cream lovers, people who are lactose intolerant, vegans or anyone looking for a cool treat this summer.
I love how easy it is to whip up a frozen treat. I also love the fact that the ingredients are just frozen fruit!
I made this frozen treat in less than 2 minutes with just 2 frozen bananas and 3/4 cup frozen strawberries!
Another exciting thing about the Yonanas Classic I have? It’s so easy to clean. That’s a BIG thing for me! I love concocting delicious items in my kitchen, but clean up is one of my least favourites. I’ve made it a rule that whoever cooks doesn’t clean the dishes. I happen to do 99.9% of the cooking! You see where I’m going, right?
Clean up is so easy, as all the pieces detach for quick and easy cleaning.
If you’ve got unexpected dinner guests or visitors who have dropped in and you need to whip something up in a pinch, what’s easier and faster than a two-minute, two-ingredient frozen treat? We always have overripe bananas in our freezer. We sometimes go through waves of can’t-get-enough-bananas in this house and then other times, I have enough frozen overripe bananas that get reserved for banana bread. Okay, another secret I have is that I sometimes get piles and piles of bananas when they go on sale at the grocery store because they are overripe. Most people don’t want overripe bananas and the store has to get rid of them by marking the price down. What? One man’s overripe bananas is another man’s banana bread or Yonannas frozen fruit treat!
My six year old had an impromptu play date and made (with my assistance) her Triple Berry Yonanas Special to share with her friend.
Little One likes to get all fancy and add garnishes and special little touches. Here, she made her Triple Berry Yonanas with raspberries and strawberries from our farm and local blueberries, plus two bananas. She then drizzled a bit of local honey and sprinkled raspberries on top.
Do you have a favourite frozen treat recipe? We’d love to know what your favourite flavour combos are!

The only fruit my son will eat in its natural form is bananas, & our dietitian suggested making smoothies for him to get fruits into his diet, but he doesn’t like them. He loves ice cream so I want a Yonanas to see if it would trick him into eating fruit in an ice cream-like format.
I do not have a Yonanas, but I bought one for my daughter in law. This recipes looks delicious, maybe we could make it this weekend.
looks super healthy and tasty
Oh I so want one of these machines!! I’ve got it on my birthday wishlist I decided to make this year. I’ve only got 1 of 5 children left living at home. There is 1 in college, the rest are working & in longtime relationships… I spent my entire adult life raising babies, providing, indulging… I decided ‘now’ it’s ok for me to say “I’d” really like.. or “I want..” …
That sounds delicious!
