My very first time on an airplane was when I was an infant. My parents brought me to Trinidad and Tobago so my Dad could spend time helping out at my grandparents’ shop in Trinidad. That was the first of many, many plane rides for me.
International travel is something my family holds close to our hearts. I thank my parents for sharing the love of travel with us and for showing us the importance of travel, experiencing new cultures, learning about history, people, and the similarities that are universal to all humanity and how the differences make us all unique and special. In essence, the world is our greatest classroom.

By the time I turned twenty-five years old, I had been to over eleven countries, thirteen states (I’ve since added three more U.S. states), and four provinces (five now that I traveled to PEI last Fall). I’m happy that I have been able to show Little One a bit more of the world outside the one she lives in. She’s been to NYC, all over Ontario, Quebec, Florida and the Philippines. She tells people she’s been to Japan when she was three years old, but we were in Narita Airport for several hours. That’s her Japan experience!
Family travel is so important. Not only does it help build memories that last a lifetime, but it teaches children about the world around them. I love that Little One has been able to embrace all the differences she encounters along her travels. When she was three years old and I took her to the Philippines, she was eating all the local foods, not even thinking twice about it! That completely blew me away! She is so easy to travel with!
Her most recent big trip was to Disney World. No words can describe the feeling of elation she had! Hubby and I love taking Little One traveling because of her reaction to everything. Everything is so new and so different. The look of wonder in her facial expression is classic.
Sunwing and family travel
Hubby and I booked with Sunwing for our honeymoon in the Dominican Republic back in 2007. We had such a great experience that we have been talking about our next vacation with Little One!
Sunwing Vacations and Sunwing.ca has fabulous family travel options within their Family Collection. The tour operator is currently running a really exciting contest.
The search is on for Sunwing’s new Kidcation Tester, giving young travellers the chance to win one of three family vacations to a resort within Sunwing’s Family Collection™! From the tastiest treats and the comfiest beds to the best activities, Sunwing.ca wants to see a video review of Sunwing resorts from your junior travel expert. This time, kids know best! #sunwingvacay
Entering is easy!
1. From June 18-July 27, 2015, upload a family photo to their page and tell Sunwing why your kid(s) should be the next Sunwing Kidcation Tester(s) for the chance to win the grand prize: One of three family holidays to a resort in Sunwing’s Family Collection™.
2. If your family’s photo is shortlisted, you’ll be asked to have your kid(s) submit a YouTube-style audition tape. Don’t wait till the last minute! They will be contacting families on an ongoing basis. Your child could become Sunwing’s official Kidcation Tester and share their experiences with other families to help them choose their next Kidcation!
3. A panel of their experienced travel experts will select and announce the winning families on August 14, 2015. Good luck!
