I must have been living under a rock since I only recently discovered the series Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt! Friends of mine were writing updates on their Facebook statuses that included phrases like “Hashbrown, no filter” and “Troll the respawn, Jeremy”, and I was so curious as to what on earth was going on.
My curiosity was piqued.
I’m almost embarrassed to admit that I binge-watched the entire season in one weekend! Don’t worry, I still tended to farm animals, cooked and cleaned for my family, met work deadlines and did my normal routine! This was not without me telling myself, “Oh! Just one more episode!” after each episode though.
The hilarious comedy series stars Ellie Kemper (from “The Office” and “Bridesmaids”) as Kimmy Schmidt. Kimmy is a woman who is rescued from a doomsday cult and has to start her life over as a nanny for a New York City socialite. All Kimmy has is her purple Jansport backpack and light-up sneakers, and the attitude of someone determined not to be seen as a victim. Her positive attitude and quirky disposition make her a likable protagonist. It’s not difficult to find Kimmy completely endearing. Okay, and she is FUNNY!
The show revolves around Kimmy trying to adapt to an unfamiliar world after being held captive in an underground bunker by cult leader, Reverend Richard Wayne Gary Wayne.

I couldn’t help but become fond of Kimmy’s roommate, Titus Andromedon, a struggling actor and Kimmy’s employer, Jacqueline Voorhees. The characters in this TV show are kooky and fun. One cannot help but want to find out what happens next!
