As busy working moms, I’m sure many of you are like me in that you ensure your family is fed before rushing out the door in the morning, but forget to feed yourself! I’m really bad for this. Oftentimes I even forget that I’ve made myself a tea and have to re-warm it three or four times before I actually get a moment to sit down and drink it!
Does this sound like you?
We all know breakfast is the most important meal of the day and we all know that if we don’t take care of ourselves, no one else will. This is why I’m excited about Mairlyn Smith‘s Breakfast Grab-and-Gos! They’re the perfect portable breakfast!
I first tried Mairlyn’s Breakfast-Grab-and-Gos when Mairlyn was on Manitoulin Island recently. We had a chance to hang out one evening. I always enjoy her company –online and in person. Tea, her awesome Breakfast-Grab-and-Gos and amazing conversation just completed the perfect evening.
I was surprised at the amount of fibre there is in each cookie! The recipe calls for ground flax, a few varieties of oats, and heaps of good stuff! Mairlyn’s Breakfast Grab-and-Gos recipe can be found in her cookbook, Healthy Starts Here! 1 of these with a glass of skim milk and an apple up your soluble-fibre intake to 2.3 grams. Extra gram from whole unoeeled apple. Gotta love that Mairlyn Smith!
I’ve posted photos on Instagram and on Facebook, and many of you asked for Mairlyn’s Breakfast-Grab-and-Gos recipe. Since I’m not at liberty to share recipes that aren’t mine, I searched online to see if she had it posted anywhere. You know, the whole copyright thing? No copying and pasting recipes or images that aren’t your own unless given explicit permission to do so. I’m a follow-the-rules girl.
Alas! I found Mairlyn’s Breakfast-Grab-and-Go recipe posted on Cityline.ca! Enjoy! Trust me, you’ll thank me for this later! So good and good for you!
My six year old daughter simply cannot get enough of these delicious and good for you cookies! Mairlyn did give me great advice for Little One though! Make sure to drink lots of liquid! 😉

These look so packed with goodness!
These sound really good! I’m going to make them for my grandkids, as soon as my newborn grandson is feeling better. His mom is on 2 antibiotics and its really upsetting his tummy so there is no time to do anything right now, but hold him!
Your pictures were making me hungry yesterday! They look so good.
Thanks, Brandy! 🙂
What a yummy, nutrition-packed goodie! I would love this as a snack or breakfast.
Heidi, you’re right! Perfect for breakfast or a snack!
Definitely loaded with fibre. Would be one good way to “sneak” fibre into my family’s diet. They sound like they would be very tasty!
Judy, they are SO delicious!! INCREDIBLY delicious!
