I just re-read the title of this post and had a giggle. I really hope everyone realizes this post is about making chocolate confections together with your kids and not kids being the ingredient!
If there’s one thing for certain in this house, it’s that my six year old daughter loves cooking, creating, and helping in the kitchen. She’s forever concocting edible creations and “plating” our dinner. When she realized Valentine’s Day was just days away, she wanted to make chocolate bars for loved ones.
She was so excited to come home to find this!
Children love to DIY and most kids love chocolate! Am I right?
I have to say that I was pretty excited to. I’ve always been interested in making chocolate. In fact, when I was a child, my neigbour’s daughter came to visit and brought over her chocolate making ingredients, tools and moulds and we spent an afternoon making chocolate lollipops!
A few years ago, I had a chocolate making experience with Ultimately Chocolate! She taught me how to make chocolate from bean to bar! I’m excited that Little One gets to learn how to make her own chocolate confections now.

Of course, Little One wanted to keep making chocolate bars for everyone. We quickly ran out of chocolate, so I went to the cupboard and got some excellent quality chocolate for melting. This was a lot of fun, but the best part of all was seeing the look of pride and accomplishment on Little One’s face when she revealed her finished products!
Perfect timing for Valentine’s Day!
