Coming from a Filipino and Chinese household, rice has always been a part of our meals. Filipinos love their rice. Rice with Chicken Adobo. Rice with Sinigang. Rice with everything!
When I moved to Japan to work for two years, rice was once again a staple. Though rice has always been a staple in my family’s diet, I never really thought much about where rice was grown or how it was grown until I went to Bali on vacation. I was really in awe of the rice terraces!
All About Rice
Did you know that nearly 70% of the rice consumed in Canada comes from US farms? How about the fact that USA rice farmers grow over 40 different varieties of rice? Rice has been grown in the U.S. for more than 300 years and US rice farmers produce short-, medium-, and long-grain rice, as well as organic and specialty rices such as jasmine, basmati and arborio. There is so much to talk about when it comes to rice!
Join us for the #USARiceCan party! We’ll be giving away 5 USA Rice prize packs to lucky participants. Make sure you follow @USARiceCan and RSVP below to be eligible.
