Life happens.
Happiness is our choice.
Sometimes not so great things happen, but being happy is a choice we make. We can choose to get sucked up and consumed by negativity or we can choose to rise above and learn from even the negative situations. Ultimately, our happiness is dependent on how we deal with situations and events.
As this post on the Magelica’s Voyage blog reminds us, it’s easy to feel happy when everything is going right. Even as an adult this is something I am trying to remind myself of. It’s so easy to be mad at others, hold grudges, feel sorry for ourselves or not take accountability of our actions. I’m trying to teach my Little One that her happiness is something that depends on her own decisions. This is hard, especially since this is something even I sometimes struggle with.
As a parent, I want to empower my child. I want her to believe in herself, in her dreams, and to in essence, be a happy person. Again, happiness is always a choice. It’s not always easy to explain this to a five year old, but Magelica’s Voyage helps children discover the power of imagination, gratitude, love, and believing in themselves.
Twitter Party Alert!
Let’s face it. There are so many sad, devastating, and horrific things going on in the world. Whether it’s local, close to home, or on the other side of the world, these stories are real. From kids bullying each other at school to conflict in countries far away from us, there is just so much negativity whenever we turn on the news. Little One has even experienced unpleasant situations with cohorts and I want to make sure she is empowered. Though my instinct is to protect my child from any kind of harm or hurt, I know that what I really need to do for her is to prepare her and teach her how to conduct her ‘self’.

A little bit of positivity can definitely change our outlook and our lives in significant ways. Thanks for the reminder!
I’m sad that I missed it but thanks for sharing the post! I was in a dark place in my life but still definitely need some guidance. So thanks!
Yes I agree with you. Happiness is usually a choice we make. Some see the glass half full, others half empty!
Hope that all is well with you and yours.
Thanks, MERINZ! I’ve been thinking of you. I think we are due for a catch up, my friend. xo
I love the theme of this party. We need to spend more time engaging in uplifting, positive activities as I am sure this party will be!
Thanks, Heidi! I agree with you 🙂 I also think that children learn from observing, so how better to teach our kids than by leading by example? 🙂
Can’t wait, as you know I’m all about the positive! The problem is that there is not enough of it and we sometimes allow others to pull us down…. see you there
Thanks so much for your support, Matthew! Such a great (and uplifting) topic! See you at the party!
What a refreshing post to read Christine! We all need to be a little more positive in life and being happy just because is the best way to start! This sounds like a great twitter party 🙂
Thanks Suzanne! Hoping this party spreads some positive energy 🙂
I am so excited to read about this uplifting twitter party! A great group of mods who are always pretty awesome, too. I’ll make a point of popping in 🙂
Thanks SO much, Pam! We really appreciate that 🙂 Looking forward to chatting!
You’ve got it completely right, Christine — happiness is entirely under our control, and too often, we put it in the hands of others, thinking they have a hold over us. It’s a better call to just be in control of our own thoughts and emotions and try to live the best lives we possibly can, rather than mope about if things aren’t going our way.
A bad today doesn’t guarantee a miserable tomorrow, right?
Thanks for trying to remind others that things can be amazing if only we try!
Thanks, Casey! That’s exactly it. I have to admit that I too forget to look at the silver lining at times. I try though 🙂 I do have to say that YOU are the perfect example of someone who is positive and on a natural high with a great outlook on life. Must be those Jolly Ranchers!
What a great twitter party idea. And you’re so right. It’s always easy to be happy and optomistic when things are good. But it’s just as important to be that way when things are not going our way. It’s an especially important (and hard) message to teach our children. I can’t wait to celebrate happiness with you 🙂
Yay! So glad you’ll be joining us, Maya! You’re right. It is a hard message to convey to younger children. I’m going through that with Little One right now 🙂
Looking forward to this party! It will be a lot of fun 🙂 We all need a little more positive in our lives
Agreed, Gingermommy! This is going to be a really refreshing party 🙂 Everyone really does need more positives in our lives!
