The aroma of Menudo or Afritada always brings me back to my childhood and to my grandparents’ kitchen. There’s nothing like good ‘ol home cooking — the stuff that sticks to your ribs, fills your belly, and warms your heart. Filipino food is so special to me because not only are those family recipes part of my roots, but because they evoke memories of childhood and happy times spent with family.
I’ve been creating some Filipino Fusion dishes with McCormick’s Filipino spices and mixes since I was introduced to them a few months ago. Though I love coming up with new recipes for classic Filipino flavours, I do love to go traditional as well.
Do you prefer innovative recipes that play on classic Filipino flavours like Adobo or Calderetta? Or do you rather have old school, totally your Grandma’s comfort food recipes? I know that my Lola made the best Leche Flan and my Lolo made the best Calderetta and Pork Adobo! My aunts and uncles have always said that my grandfather’s Lengua Estofada was famous!

I love McCormick! So delicious and easy!
Me too, Victoria! Perfect for tasty and easy dishes!
MMM, I just uploaded my chicken adobo pizza recipe that I made for the cook off challenge at your place Christine. Makes me want to make again for supper this week.
It was a great time, and I really enjoyed the opportunity to change things up and not be the same ‘ol, same ‘ol.
Wow! That pizza looks amazing! I love how versatile spices are and their capability to really change the way your food tastes.
So true, Kerrie! Love the versatility and ability to change your meal entirely!
wow, great prizes and that pizza looks to die for!
It was so good! I’ll have to make it again soon!
That Chicken Adobo Pizza has my mouth watering! I always pick up McCormick dried herbs and spices but have not know they offered International seasonings. will be looking for these on my next supermarket trip!
Monica, isn’t it exciting?! I love that a more diverse selection of spices and seasonings are being introduced!
Oh man, that McCormick spice rack alone looks awesome! *wants* 😀 I didn’t know McCormick had Filipino (or even International) spice packets; my cabinet is full of their little green bottles of yummy flavours, and I love to experiment, so am now gonna have to check my store for their packet goodies! Thanks Christine, your post has me entirely hungry now, LOL.
Aeryn, if you come visit, I’ll cook for you! 😉 xo
