I have a secret.
I remember when I was ten years old, my mom and I went to a health food store and the lady who was selling vitamins told me I had beautiful, shiny black hair. I liked my hair when I was a kid. Something strange happened in my young adult life.
When I became vegetarian, I ended up anemic and had to get regular vitamin B-12 shots at the clinic. I was lacking iron and eventually my hair started falling out by the clump-full. It wasn’t for lack of a balanced vegetarian diet. I was eating a vegetarian diet planned by my doctor, dietitian and myself. I knew that if I wanted to have a certain lifestyle, I needed to do it properly. It wasn’t until the doctor told me, “Look, you NEED to eat meat again” that I reluctantly re-incorporated seafood and then poultry back into my diet. I’m sure this doesn’t happen to everyone, but it happened to me.
My hair got so thin and sparse. For women, a healthy head of hair is pretty much like a sign of fertility and womanhood. At least that’s how I perceived it. Luxurious locks signified healthy, womanly appeal. I perceived healthy hair to be of prime importance because in my eyes, it was part of what made women attractive. I cried each time I washed or brushed my hair and ended up with a handful of hair in my hands.
The situation got worse after I got pregnant and had my daughter. In fact, I’d venture to say that my hair has been its thinnest in the past two years.
Enter NIOXIN.
I remember ages ago, when I lived in the city, a hairdresser got me to try NIOXIN. It worked really well at getting my hair feeling and looking fuller and with more body. I don’t know why I stopped using it. Fast forward to this month and I was given the opportunity to try Nioxin out on my hair.
NIOXIN System 2: DELIVERS DENSER-LOOKING HAIR WHILE STRENGTHENING AGAINST DAMAGE Designed specifically for noticeably thinning, fine, natural hair, System 2 includes a volumizing cleanser, lightweight conditioner and a leave-in treatment to protect the scalp, amplify hair texture and deliver a healthy shine.
- NIOXIN System Kit (including a cleanser, scalp therapy and treatment) – $45.99*
- NIOXIN DiaMax Treatment – $59.99*
I know this might sound crazy, but I couldn’t believe the results of thicker-looking hair after just two weeks of using the NIOXIN System Kit.
NIOXIN DiaMax is a daily leave-in treatment that increases the thickness of each hair strand by up to 4.5 per cent after one use.
I noticed the NIOXIN difference within the first few days. My hair felt fuller, thicker, and more luxurious. I could not believe it. Even my husband and 5 year old daughter noticed a difference and have been giving me compliments.
I hate that I feel self-conscious about my hair, but it is a reality for me. I tell my child that she shouldn’t be preoccupied with her looks, yet I am so conscious of my thin hair. Though I firmly believe women should feel comfortable in their own skin, I also know what it feels like to feel self-conscious.

I put loads of volume in my hair
I blow dry my hair while bend over (aka upside down). Not real sure it actually works and it doesn’t stay all day long, but I like to think it would.
I blow dry my hair by flipping my hair upside down
i just usually blow dry it and use mousse.
Sometimes I use a dry shampoo to make it look thicker and I tease it.
Cheers.
I use mousse to help make it look nicer and calm down frizz.
I try and puff it up always with my hair dryer. Dont work well tho 🙁
A deep side part!
Putting mouse in my hair and blow drying it.
i currently do not have a way to cover up the thinning hair I have
I blow dry my hair upside down for volume and tease it.
I don’t really have a trick, I just put up with it.
I blowdry my hair upside down sometimes and use dry shampoo for extra volume.
I don’t have a trick :(.. I really wish I did between aging and 6 pregnancies and 5 births… my hair cries.. sometimes I swear I can hear it….. <3
I don’t have any tricks to make my hair look thicker.
I got an inverted bob hair cut, so it looks like I have more hair and volume than I really do. I also use a root booster moose to spray my roots and an hair dryer blasting heat to the roots.
I use volumizong spray and a round brush to try to add volume to my thin fine hair.
I don’t have any tricks except hope others don’t notice it as much as I do.
I use volumnizing shampoo, then for blow drying, I put mousse in my hair and brow dry it with my head tilted down and forward.
I have really fine thin hair, so I used to always get perms, but since they are totally out now, I decided to go and get my hair chopped, ya so now I have very short hair that my hubby hates
I’ve tried a volumizing mousse in the past, but truthfully it mostly seemed to weigh my hair down (maybe I used too much lol!). I always blowdry my hair with my head upside down to try to give it some lift, and sometimes I try backcombing underneath a little, but at the end of the day I mostly just have thin looking hair.
I usually try to blow dry the roots
Hmm, I don’t really have any tricks, so I think I need these products.
I use a volumizing mousse and use a round brush to dry it ‘up’.
I use a round brush and try to blow try it upwards to make it look thicker, it usually only works for a few hours lol!
LOL! I hear you, Amy! Same prob here!
