Some may not see the value in social media, but for me, social media is about being “social”. Connections and relationships built are so valuable. That’s what Twitter is for me.
Last night, @mommydoCA tweeted me and thus began our correspondence about supporting a cause I had no prior knowledge about. Williams Syndrome. Have you heard of it?
Here in Ontario, many parents who receive the diagnosis have no local resources and no one to turn to. This summer we’re bringing parents from all over Ontario together at Sick Kids to learn from leading Williams Syndrome experts and connect with other parents.
There is more than $12,000 in donated goods and services to bid on, including a Manitoulin Island Family holiday Package valued at more than $1700! The winning bidder of will enjoy a one week in a 3-bedroom furnished vacation rental in scenic Little Current overlooking Lake Huron, passage on the Chi-Cheemaun donated by the Owen Sound Transportation Company, $50 gift certificate for the Anchor Inn, $25 gift certificate for Manitoulin Chocolateworks and a $500 VISA gift card for family fun from LeFarge Cement.
Any funds we raise over and above the cost of the day will be split between Sick Kids Hospital in Toronto and the Canadian Association for Williams Syndrome.
