Cooking and entertaining are two of my biggest passions. I especially love hosting dinner parties where I serve dishes from my cultural background. Filipino food on Manitoulin Island? Why, yes! My husband and five year old request Filipino food on a weekly basis! Some of their favourites are Filipino BBQ, Caldereta, Chicken Adobo, Pork Adobo, Sinigang, Tortang Talong, Pancit, Lumpia, Misua Soup…the list goes on!
I’m excited to share that McCormick Canada has released Filipino Recipe Mixes for the fastest growing ethnic community in Canada! There are 11 well-loved Filipino Recipe Mixes available at retailers in Toronto and Vancouver as Filipino food continues to emerge as an internationally recognized cuisine. I grew up eating Filipino food, but the first time my husband ever tried Pinoy cooking was when we were dating! A veritable meat and potatoes man, who grew up on British cooking, he can now cook some Filipino food on his own now because he loves it so much! Am I ever excited about McCormick’s Filipino mixes! Another thing I am excited about is that the packs have NO MSG (except for Pancit Canton).
Adobo Mixes
Traditionally served with rice, Adobo makes use of pork or chicken slowly cooked in vinegar, garlic, bay leaf, peppercorns and soy sauce. McCormick’s Adobo Mixes in Classic, Adobo sa Pula at Adobo sa puti bring an exciting experience to this all-time favorite dish.
Sinigang Mixes
Sinigang is a traditional Filipino soup characterized by its sour flavour associated with tamarind. McCormick’s Sinigang Mixes come in Classic flavour and to provide a fresh twist to this dish, McCormick is also introducing Sinigang with Lemongrass and Sinigang with Rosemary and Chili. Perfect for the growing preference for fusion in Filipino food.
Filipino Seasonings
The McCormick line of Filipino seasonings brings back memories of well-loved Filipino dishes such as Asado, Curry, Menudo, Pancit Canton and Caldereta.

What’s exciting is being able to achieve the flavours of well-loved classic Filipino dishes and incorporate them into new recipes! Asado Sliders or Cheesy Caldereta Nachos sound great, don’t they?
That’s not all!
McCormick also has a great Filipino Food contest for foodies across Canada!

hi c – this is just a comment not an entry for the contest….
That’s great the McCormick’s now has Filipino seasoning packs. We have Mama Sita’s here and Knorr. 🙂
Canine!!! Yes, neat that McCormick’s now has Filipino seasoning packs. In the past, my mom and her sisters used the Mama Sita’s and Knorr’s too.
Great review! I have never heard of McCormicks before, but love the idea of a season pack. It makes cooking so much easier! Is it gluten free?? As for Filipino food, I’ve never had it!!
Jenn, I checked the ingredient lists and I see that there’s gluten in some of the mixes. I’ll have to cook some Filipino food for you when you come visit. Notice I said WHEN and not IF? LOL! xoxo
I’ve never tried Filipino food! This looks delish. The cheesy nacho’s sound great.
Erica, next time I’m in TO, I’m going to have to take you out for Filipino food!!!
I have never tried Filipino food but I’m always up for new things, I might need the help of some of these products- looks delish
Virginia, if you lived closer, I’d cook for you!!! My husband had never eaten Filipino food before he met me. Now he and our 5 year old always request it! They eat more Filipino food than I do now!
I have always been interested in Filipino food because it looks sooooo delicious!! I haven’t made any Filipino dishes yet, but am definitely inspired to do so now. I’ve always wanted to try! Love that McCormick’s has spice mixes to make it easier 🙂
Brandi, if you try making some of the dishes, let me know what you think! McCormick’s have tons of recipes on their site! Their FB page and Instagram make me hungry all the time!
Aside from the tasty dishes both you and my cousin-in-law posts in my Facebook feed, I’ m not really familiar with Filipino food. Looking at all those tasty photos I suspect I’m missing out on something here. I love that McCormick’s is making Filipino spice mixes now. That gives a neophyte like me the opportunity to test and try. For me it’s like “entry level” Filipino food just became available.
LOL! Deanna, I love you! 🙂 Really wish you lived closer! I’d cook Filipino food for you any day of the week! xo
