Every time around this time of the year, there’s a sense of excitement and new found energy over here. With the snow finally melted and the grass coming to life again, what’s not to be excited about? Milder temperature, freshness in the air, sunshine, and birds chirping cheerfully are all things we are embracing over here!
Spring is a time of rebirth and we love seeing all the newborn animals on our farm. Whether they be newborn calves or newborn chicks, they’re all symbol of Spring and life! We even have a few does on our property with their fawns. So exciting to see! Another exciting thing? Seeing all the buds on our trees! Definitely a signal of Spring!
I remember Spring 2008 clearly. It was the time I learned that we were going to have a newborn of our own! One of the first things I was excited to do was get working on Little One’s nursery! I don’t know about you, but as an excited first-time expectant mom, I immediately went to work on my “wishlist”!
Sears is one of the stores that many Islanders use to order items since there are delivery and pick-up locations in most of the townships here. I order clothing, footwear and other items online from Sears.ca. I knew I was going to have fun shopping for my newborn online and in-store.
Little One’s crib (that turns into a toddler bed) was a gift the ladies in my family pitched in for and gave us for my baby shower (that I didn’t end up attending because I was put on strict bed rest). I was so surprised that my mom’s sisters, my sister-in-law and my two female cousins and my cousins’ wives got this off of my Sears wishlist! I perused the Sears crib section and really liked the idea of having a crib that converts into a toddler bed. I also liked the trundle drawer!
A lot of Little One’s baby clothes and necessities were also purchased from Sears. Just thinking of the excitement experienced knowing we were going to have a baby and planning for our newborn’s arrival makes me really want to have another baby!
One thing I absolutely wanted was to have a beautiful, fun nursery for our newborn. I also wanted items that would stand the test of time (and wear and tear from growing kids!). I wanted to make sure we had baby items that could be passed on from kid to kid. Have you heard of the KidVantage program at Sears?
KIDVANTAGE
The Lifetime Wear Out Warranty covers children’s apparel and footwear as long as a child in the family continues to wear the size. If the item wears out, Sears will, at its option, either repair it or replace it with the identical item in the same size, or if it’s unavailable, a similar item of equal value in the same size. How amazing is that?
For us, shopping at Sears makes sense. From Little One’s clothing, footwear, bedroom furniture, bedding and more, shopping at Sears is affordable and we can depend on great service and quality products.
This is Little One’s room now. It’s changed a little bit. Her new favourite item is the bedding her Lola and Grampy got her from Sears for Christmas.
We have quite a few friends and family members who are expecting babies this Spring! I love shopping for baby items and really enjoy organizing baby showers. I couldn’t resist these items for newborn babies at Sears. These are some things I think new moms would love.
1. Carter’s® Wrap-Me-Up Receiving Blanket – Animal 2. Delta™ ‘Adele’ 2-Piece Furniture Ensemble 3. Crane™ ‘Frog’ Humidifier 4. Delta™ ‘Eclipse’ Glider with Ottoman 5. CLOUD B® ‘Twilight Constellation’ Nightlight

I love what you did! I hope they have this event again next year!!
I love the nursery you prepared for Little One. I think it is so bright and cheery. I also love her room as it looks now. I note she still has her little stuffed cow-isn’t that sweet?!
I didn’t know about Searsvantage. I think that is a wonderful plan.
I am too old to plan nurseries but I enjoy looking at others very much.
Elva, we used to take a photo of her beside that cow EVERY month in her first year of life just to track her growth! Can’t believe she was the size of the cow’s foot when she came home from the hospital!
What a great list! My daughter had her baby a few weeks ago, the baby’s room started out pretty basic, now 1/2 the house is in it it seems lol!! Poor girl, I hope she figures herself out soon lol
🙂 Darlene, congrats on the birth of your grandchild! xox
