Do you remember your favourite teddy bear or stuffed animal from when you were a child? I received a bumble bee from my uncle when I was a baby. For the longest time, that remained my favourite childhood toy. I was also attached to a stuffed gingham gingerbread man that came with a matching gingham comforter. I wore both of those out and through the years, though ‘Puffy’, the gingerbread man became tattered and faded, he is still my favourite toy that reminds me of my childhood.
Teddy bears and stuffed animals are part of many children’s earliest memories. They’re best friends for years…even when kids think they’ve got no one who can relate to them. They’re companions and confidants, and go through the good and bad times. My five year old daughter most probably knows that her teddy bear friends are inanimate objects, but there’s still magic in a young child’s heart. Oh, I hear her having tea parties and singing and talking to her stuffed animals. I also think this make-believe play is important to children’s development.
This is why I love the Teddy Bear Loft.
Teddy Bear Loft
I like the idea of letting your child create their special friend. They get to choose their favourite animals, and make them by stuffing them and naming them. I also really liked the idea of a stuff your own teddy bear experience at home! It makes for a nice, quiet, fun afternoon (or any time) activity.
Little One was given the opportunity to make a few new friends courtesy of Teddy Bear Loft. Of all the adorable animals she could choose from, she selected “Sparkles”, the unicorn (because she’s all about unicorns these days!) and Rudy the reindeer! Don’t laugh! I know it’s Spring and Christmas is over, but Little One was adamant that she had to have Rudy! I rather selfishly wanted her to choose Cali, the cat, because she looked so irresistibly “fluffy”!
To my surprise, when Little One’s Teddy Bear Loft parcel arrived, Teddy Bear Loft included Cali, the cat too! So sweet!
Teddy Bear Loft Birthday Parties
Since Little One had a fabulous time ‘building’ her stuffed friends, I decided that on her next birthday, we’d invite some of her friends over and have a Teddy Bear Loft Birthday Party. How fun is it to have the kids stuff their own teddy bears and then take them home with them at the end of the party! It’s a party activity and take-home item all in one! To be honest, I’m not one for loot bags filled with items that will just get thrown away later. These Teddy Bear Loft friends are keepers!
Here are just a few things I love about the Teddy Bear Loft Birthday Parties (from their website):
EVERYONE can stuff our teddy bears. No small parts or sewing required! Best of all, there is no wrong way to do it. Stuffed and about to burst or super floppy, it’s not done till the guest says it’s done!
Our 8” teddy bears start at just 12$! No minimums, no time restraints, reservations, loot bags or deposits. Bigger budget? We’ve got bigger 16″ teddy bears for 22$ and loads of accessories for both! Check our Promotions page for specials!
When sending out your invites, ask your guests to go online and pick their favorite teddy bear. When they RSVP ask them what they chose, and order everyone’s favorite. Or give them a short list to pick from in their invitation that fits into your theme. A nice touch that doesn’t cost anything extra!
Teddy Bear Loft Fun!
Little One had such a great time stuffing her Teddy Bear Loft friends. She even did one after supper with the help of her Lola (Grandma).
All of the 8 inch and 12 inch stuff your own teddy bear kits are so adorable and lovable. They come with everything you need to make the cutest teddy bear ever! In each kit, you will receive your chosen animal, stuffing, birth certificate, wooden stuffing stick to help with those long limbs and 2 loving heart inserts. This is the perfect party or the perfect gift!
If you want, your little ones and their friends can even get clothing and accessories for their Teddy Bear Loft friends.
I’d highly recommend Teddy Bear Loft to friends and family. So much fun and makes for great parties and gifts! You can connect with them on their website, on Twitter, Facebook, and Pinterest!

These look incredibly soft and I love that you can actually have a hand in making your own bears.
Thanks for writing about this Christine! We have 5 kids’ birthday parties to throw, and I had been wondering about DIY stuffed animals. One of the neighbourhood kids had similar, and I was wondering where they fond them.
Jenna, we’re definitely doing this for LO’s next birthday! So fun!
this is such a great idea, I had never heard of it! My oldest is a stuffie fanatic! I blame his uncle who is always gifting the boys Australian stuffies, we have some of the most unique stuffies in our house! Emu, kiwi, crocodiles lol
Aww! Kiwi, Emu & crocodiles!!! So awesome!
What a great idea. My eldest has her favorite “Sleepy Bear” that is an elephant…. bu t we don’t point that out…
My youngest would love this! What a great idea for a birthday party.
🙂 Hehe! Sleepy Bear is an elephant! Love that 🙂 I know…such a great idea for a birthday party, right?!
My favorite toy as a child was a doll, but I had a few favorite stuffies as do my kids. I have always been a fan of the create your own type of thing, but to do it in your home would be so much nicer. Little One made some nice choices!
Suzanne, I love the idea of doing it from home too! So fun!
That is so much fun! I had a teddy bear forever and handed it down to my son. The squishy cuddles were the best 🙂 This is something little one would love to do. Love the party idea too
Gingermommy, I was thinking your little one would LOVE this! 🙂
