I won’t lie. There are days when I look at myself in the mirror and wonder “What on earth happened to me?”
I’ve got age spots. My once flawless skin is now covered with what I thought were cute freckles. Then my friend told me, “Those aren’t freckles! That’s sun damage!” *Ooof*
To be honest, the only part of my physical appearance that I actually really love are my lips! I know. Sad. It shouldn’t matter what we look like, but the reality is that when we look good, we feel good. That’s why I always wear a splash of lip colour and some eye make-up. I’ve got really small Asian eyes and feel I need to accentuate them with eye make-up. I’m obsessed with eyebrows because mine are almost non-existent. I also haven’t been blessed with lengthy, voluminous lashes. Funny how my brothers both have stunning eyelashes when I’m the girl and ended up with skimpy, barely there lashes!
Needless to say, you will rarely find me posting a #selfie because A) I think “selfies” are a little narcissistic. It’s great to post photos of one’s self, but when the last 100 pics on your Instagram are photos of yourself, I think it’s a little bit vain. That’s just me though. To each their own 🙂 Occasional selfies are cool. Just not ALL the pics in your stream. B) I take a lot of photos of my daughter, family, life on the farm, food, our travels, but I’m always the one behind the camera taking the photos.
To combat my aversion to the selfie, I am taking part in COVERGIRL’s #covermoment.
#covermoment | kəvərmōmənt
Noun: The moment one feels her most beautiful and empowered self and wants to share it with the world. A #covermoment celebrates the uniqueness in everyone – it showcases the moments in life when one feels most confident and authentic.
The other week, I was sent a few COVERGIRL products. I had a date night with Hubby the other night and put the products to use!
I am a lip gloss and lipstick lover, so I was excited to try COVERGIRL Lipslicks Smoochies Sizzle Gloss. I love a little bit of shimmer and colour on my lips. It just seems to brighten up my smile. Plus, who doesn’t love to moisturize lips and add shimmer for irresistibly smoochable lips?
COVERGIRL’s Bombshell Volume by LashBlast Mascara makes my puny lashes look fuller and longer. The two-step Bombshell Boost System combines extreme volume with an intensifying top coat for big, sexy bombshell lashes. To achieve longer and fuller looking lashes is simple. Step One: Apply the extreme volume basecoat. Step Two: Finish with the intensifying top coat. I only carry a few items in my make-up bag and this is now one of those items!
Since I’ve got an oily t-zone, my nose always seems to bit a bit ‘shiny’. I used to take the time to do the whole beauty regimen of prepping my skin before applying make-up. You know, the whole foundation, concealer, powder, etc. Now it seems I only do it when going out, attending an event or party. I admire women who have kids, a job, and look gorgeous all the time. I know it’s all about priorities. I’ve just been putting on some eye make-up and lipgloss and rush out the door every day. I think a solution to my shiny nose is COVERGIRL truMAGIC Skin Perfector. It’s a revolutionary skin-perfecting balm! “truMAGIC offers a touch of magic without adding makeup in just one swipe and is available in three fabulous finishes. Use it alone as a mattifier, under makeup as a primer, over makeup to complete your look, or as a skin refresher throughout the day.” What I love is that it is so thin and quick to apply, and gives an amazing matte finish!
Through COVERGIRL’s #covermoment, I’m feeling a little more at ease taking pics of myself. A #covermoment is different from a regular #selfie because it celebrates the uniqueness in everyone and it showcases the moments in life when one feels most confident and authentic. Share your #covermoment with this COVERGIRL bundle! The bundle is valued at $47 ARV, and includes:
- COVERGIRL Bombshell Volume Mascara – $11.99*
- COVERGIRL TruBlend Foundation – $13.99*
