Though I had been blogging for many years, it wasn’t until a few years ago that I started monetizing my blog. What began as a creative outlet and platform to discuss things that were important to me kind of snowballed into something of its own. I had a lot of learning to do.
Online communities helped me gain insight into the incredible world of social media and how to make a business out of one’s blog. One of the things that helped me the most was attending my very first social media/blog conference. Keynote speakers, Sessions, meeting brands and PR companies, and hanging out with bloggers I had been tweeting with for a while were all priceless and instrumental when it came to building my blog and my network. I took home with me some valuable knowledge and lessons as well as memories and friendships built with people I call my friends on and offline. In fact, some I’ve become so close with that we take turns visiting each other and setting up family holidays!
I’m excited to announce that I am an Ambassador for the BConnected Conference in Ottawa this April!
The BConnected Conference is a new social media and networking conference that will be held on April 12-13, 2014 at Ottawa’s National Arts Centre. I am thrilled to be among some amazing bloggers, brands, and industry leaders.

I couldn’t agree more with you, Christine, about how great these conferences are, and how much you can learn from them. Even if you’ve been to other ones before. So looking forward to seeing you here in Ottawa in April!!
Can’t wait, Sandy! Yes, I’ve been to quite a few social media conferences. Not just parenting ones, but even food ones. I always learn so much!
